No to formerly behind iron curtain
Looks like I'm a bit slow for this thread, but more or less yes. My photo was the monument marking the location of Trinity Site, the first nuclear bomb test, in White Sands Test Range, New Mexico

I dob't think it is Sweden, but my choice would be Portugal.
I believe kev's picture is of Dos Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon, Portugal. I found it very easily yesterday, but didn't feel right about submitting the answer since others guessed it to be Lisbon. I wouldn't have been able to find the right answer without knowing it was in Lisbon.

Just recognized Lisbon/Portugal by the design of the trams :wink:
Walter, Same for me! I tried to find a picture I took in Lisbon with the trams, but couldn't find one. Too lazy to dig into my photo boxes.

caprice, The (intricate) front entrance to the monastery was what I would have remembered, not the view of the whole facade from the street.
c.i.: Ah...well...perspective can be everything sometimes, true?
