Maybe a month or so ago I read a quote that I'm trying to identify. I think I read it on the Daily Dish, Andrew Sullivan's blog, but I haven't been able to find it there. It said something like "everyone is bound to act out his or her identity" or something to the effect of "people try to be to the world what they see themselves as."

I don't think the original phrasing went like that, and I've mostly given up on finding the original quote, but can anyone point me to a philosopher or author who said anything like that?

@findis,
Maybe Gandhi: "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Ghandi. Good example of one who may have been enlightened. Original thoughts and ideas about things that were unique in his time and circumstance.

@findis,
sounds like Jung to me. He was all about subconscious acts surfacing and also talked about everyone linked together unknowingly.
