Hi. I have written a really simple batch file which is a good laugh if you know what i mean. The only problem is that it needs the user to open it and I want lots of people to open it unawares. I want to send the file in an email, so how can i get it to run itself as soon as the recipitent opends the mail?
What does the batch file do?
It changes the clock on the recipitents computer firstly, opens random infinite notepad.exe's and at some point in the future i hope to make it shut down the computer also but as of yet I do not know how to.
Sorry, I won't help with this.
Ok I just added some bits in there its not harmful at all it just opens notepad over and over by using a loop. I just wanna send it o this guy I know who is really annoying me coz he thinks he's so smart, but I need it to run
when the email is opened
Sounds like a bad idea Josh!
thats not a virus, its just a relatively annoying program
Because it sounds to me like hacking.
You're still talking about messing with someone elses computer which is hacking in my eyes. Maybe there's another word for it, but it's something I wouldn't want done to me.
not particularly. And anyway, you don't know how annoying this guy is. Seriously, people get pretty aggravated. And all he will have to do is hit Ctrl Alt Del and end the program and the whole ordeal is over.
and I would also like to pop up a message box saying STOP ANNOYING ME.
Why not just block him from your computer?
do you know how to do it or not
I don't, but people that do here won't help you. Sorry.
Won't help, LOL! Nice try though.
Hey Josh, I have a solution to your problem.
Lean over and push the power button on your PC to turn off your computer. Then, go open your front door, step outside and take a long breath of fresh air.
Annoyances on the computer won't seem so earth shattering important after that.
Guess what? By doing this simple exercise, you'll also be sending this pest the exact message you wish to send. If you're not on the computer, he can't annoy you. If he does happen to find you on the computer and annoys you, you have the power to control the situation by turning off your computer.
Yep, the solution is that simple. Don't you wish all of life's problems were that easy to resolve?
Josh,
What you describe could easily be used malliciously, even if your stated goal here is, indeed, pretty much just a prank.
But I don't think the ethics make a difference to you so let's appeal to your technology sense.
Any decent AV heuristics will catch it, anyone with a modicum of security will probably not be exploitable to you.
You know you might get him the first time but he won't be tricked into executing it again. But from a technical standpoint no matter what you do there is little chance you will pull off repeated exploits.
But if a technical appeal doesn't work try an appeal to common sense. I was just about to write what BFN did. Give it a think.
batch files
Anyway, even if you did get your plan operative, what's to stop the other guy from going you one better and on and on and back and forth. . .
