Was the actor Jimmy Stewart? Did he say this to Katharine Hepburn?

Embarrassed I think I'm supposed to logout, so it may appear that I live here. I've been annoying other people in far away lands. You could call them Democrats. This is, admittedly, not what I've been calling them.

Seriously, Rae, if you know the answer, I'm afraid that I must demand it immediately! These things give me head cramps.

Just ribbing you -- I don't recall ever coming across any of your posts that were not within decorum. Laughing

This is a toughie, LW. I'm guessing Bogart in China Clipper. The earlier hit being The Petrified Forest.

Correct -- but Pat O'Brien to Humphrey Bogart in "China Clipper."

Oh, I'd never have gotten it if you hadn't given a clue about the actor (in the 30s), L. W. I thought it related to flying.

Julia Roberts as "Erin Brockovich"? or can they quotes only be from good movies?

That's actually Orson Welles to Charleton Heston as Vargas in "Touch of Evil." I liked "Erin Brockovich" and so did the critics and audiences so I guess it qualifies.

That's helpful. I wasn't sure if my pool of possible guesses included popular movies, or was limited to classics. The few answers I saw made me think we were limited to classics.

Classics may be more difficult clues as current reviews still exist on more current popular movies and makes research easier if the answer doesn't immediately pop into one's head. Raggedy probably picked that film not remembering it's one of my favorites so it's unlikely I wouldn't catch on pretty quickly.

"Brockovitch" is one of those popular films which garnered some really good critical response, but it one doesn't believe the film was good is, of course, their privilege:

Ah, to the contrary LW. I picked Touch of Evil because I know it's one of your favorites. I'm in a generous mood today, and particularly so because of the good hint you gave for the previous quote. Laughing
