It's hardly my fault that it's stagnating. You guys aren't guessing movie titles. Theoretically, I should provide periodic new clues if people are guessing and failing, but no one is even venturing guesses.

Alright, let's review. The line is:

"They heated the water for my bath too early. It was positively tepid."

I said that it was an historical romance that was remade later, and that it was not based on reality. I will add that although the date of the story is unspecified, it appears to be the early 1800s.

You're wrong, I'm afraid. Dorothy is a lovely girl, and quite sane.

Good guess, Dorothy. The quote does refer to a sport. In this case, the sport is martial arts. However, I should mention that the movie would not be categorized as a "martial arts" movie. Martial arts played a lesser role in the movie. The movie was primarily a drama about differences in culture.

Okay, here is another clue: the movie was directed by Sidney Pollack.

The Yakuza?

I must confess I did look it up which kind of defeats the object I know. I have not seen it or many others of his but I loved Tootsie. I'm not very good at this game am I?

"The Yakuza" is correct, Dorothy. It should be your turn next.

("The Yakuza" starred Robert Mitchum and was set in modern Japan. Much of the film deals with cultural differences between Americans and Japanese. Japanese actor Ken Takakura spoke the dialog that I quoted.)

The beginning of a truly fabulous movie, "Blade Runner."

The response of the person being questioned is to say, "Let me tell you about my mother," and then shoot the person questioning him.
