El Dorado or Rio Bravo. They're both essentially the same movie- I get them confused. In one the drunk was Dean Martin and the other was Robert Mitchum. In one the kid was James Caan and the other Ricky Nelson. In one the crotchedy old deputy was Walter Brennan and in the other was a character actor I can't name.

Arthur Hunnicutt. Yes, it's "El Dorado," Howard Hawkes' rip-off of his own prior film, "Rio Bravo."

(flipping a coin:) "Heads!...Heads!...Heads!...Heads!...Heads!..."

Clue: these are the opening words of the movie.

Excellent guess for "eight heads in a duffel bag", but no. Not North Dallas Forty either.

Another clue: Movie was adapted from a stage play.

Yup. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. As the movie/play begins, Guildenstern is just finishing tossing something like 80-90 consecutive 'heads' and waxes philosophic about probability and fate. R & G, of course, are minor characters in "Hamlet", but Hamlet is a minor character in "R & G"
