Just about to buy a new pc, optical drives for dvd ( 16xdvd & 4xdvd+r\+rw) is an extra £125 instead of 16xdvd drive with power dvd software and 48xcd-rewrite drive, whic is only an extra tenner, any opinions , is it worth the extra hundred odd quid?

Why don't you have a look at several websites of electronic retailers and compare the cost for a dvd drive capable of burning dvds?

You also should consider whether you download a lot of stuff from the Internet. I'm sure it's pretty sensful to own a DVD-burner to be able to keep some free space on your harddrive if you like downloading.

That seems a bit expensive I purchased a R/W cd drive about two month ago for $199.00 US or about 119 pounds UK. They a well worth the cost.

Acquiunk,

He's talking about DVD-r/rw vs CD-r/rw, that might explain the difference in price.

Sean,

It's worth it if you download frequently as user noted, just make sure to shop for the best prices in your region.

Sure, but CDs hold a lot less info. It all depends on what you are downloading. Unless you are downloading things too big for a CD (e.g. large movie files) it will be cheaper to burn them onto CDs anyway.
