what's the next number in the sequence
1/4 1/2 1 3 6 12 24
I would have said 48 except that the number 3 does not fit.
An alternate answer with the same basic reasoning would be 96.
Flyboy, the only way you can know the answer to this is to be British and at least 40 years old.
If the answer is not 30 then it is the mother of all coincidences.
After 30 would be: 60, 84 120, 126, 240, 252.
I'm not British, Kev, but I,m well over 40. The logic of my sequences were double twice, then triple. Double thrice, then triple. This would be followed by double four times, then triple.
The alternate sequence was double twice, then triple. Double three times, then quadruple. This would be followed by double four times, then quintuple.
What is the logic in your stated sequence?
British coinage pre decimalisation.
¼ = farthing
½ = ha'penny
1 = penny
3 = thrupenny bit
6 = tanner (sixpence)
12= shilling
24= florin
30= half crown
60= crown
84= third guinea
120=½ sovereign
126=½ guinea
240= sovereign
252= guinea
Taken just as far as 30 it would be one hell of a coincidence if this was not the answer. But coincidences do happen.
Kev, you're almost certainly right; especially since the original poster's name, "BloodyK", does have a British connotation.
I'm not British, too bad.
