There's a romantic comedy (starring Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin) being filmed a coupla blocks from where I grew up. My parents still live there so, if you see a guy in a bowtie in the background, or a woman who looks like a librarian, then I suppose my parents will have to register with Actors' Equity.

I lived on a block where a movie was shot. The house next to the house across the street was used for exterior shots -- I think you can see the house I was living in at the time for about a half-second in one of the scenes. Anyway, it was far more of a nuisance than anything else -- closed off the block for about a week, big trucks with noisy generators running non-stop, etc. It was certainly not a "Hollywood moment" for anyone living there, although I did get to see a glimpse of John Candy and Ally Sheedy filming a scene. I am truly blessed.

@joefromchicago,
There was a film made when I was working on LI in these weird-looking buildings. "Family Business" with Dustin Hoffman, Matthew Broderick and Sean Connery. Lousy film but it was something to watch while waiting for the next day's calendar to be made up.

@joefromchicago,
Back a while ago, a lot of houses/streets in the Los Angeles area were used for scenes, the houses for a price, and I suppose the streets were too. I remember hearing a lot of griping about the peremptoriness of the crews..
