I bought a Hitachi LS-2000-EMEA 3.5" 2TB Simpledrive External USB in order to backup my PVR. After using swiss knife software, it has become a 356 GB drive! Any suggestions to rectify this will be warmly appreciated.
I am not sure if this will help you or not. I bought a 150 giga byte hard drive long time ago. When I started to use it after formating it I could only get 80 GB. The vendor told me that I had to get the Microsoft WinXP service pak in order to utilize the entire potential of the hard drive.
Also 32 bit has a limit whereas 64 bit is many times more.
2^2=4
2^3=8
2^4=16
So for each increment in power the total bit range doubles.
2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048,4096 and so.

That is nonsense.

SwissKnife is a partitioning program... most likely you altered the size of the parition so the computer only sees a parition of 356GB. the rest of the drive is unallocated space. you can create an extended partition and format it to regain that space.
this doesn't have anything to do with "32 bit" vs. "64 bit" - that is really only in reference to system memory (not hard disk space). all of the hard disk IO functions are handled by the drive's on-board controllers.
