Mine is seven years old (W2000) and I got that given when my son updated his stuff.

Where do I begin?

Please chuck in a few ideas to give me somewhere to start, the only things I can think of at the moment are I don't want to lose anything I already have amassed on this comp and preferably it should have both CD and DVD facility

Thanks

@lovejoy,
I read the thread title really fast and thought you wanted to 'date a computer' LOL!

Anyway..........................looked at the one you linked and it looks ok (depending on what you want to do on it which you never said)...it does look kind of expensive, but then I'm not familiar with prices over there.

So...good luck and let us know what you end up with!

@lovejoy,
It looks good for playing videos if that is the intention but if that is mainly what you use it for, the price is a bit high in my opinion.

Have you checked out HP.com ?

In order to get a really good idea if it will meet your needs you should make a list of the things you expect it to do and then make sure it has at least the minimum of what you need.

For example, my EX used a program to capture TV programs and movies and the hardware it used needed an S-video connection so I had to make sure it had that when I was shopping. Bonus was that I could also hook the computer into the TV so I could watch videos and DVD's without needing a seperate DVD player.

Good luck!
