Rugby, or Rugby Union - is less crappy then League because of the technical aspects of the game

Technical aspects? Please elucidate.

How often do you watch it? I'm guessing I've seen a lot more AFL games than you've seen league games.

Have to admit I used to like union a lot more in the 90s and early 2000s - big ACT Brumbies fan - but the game has gotten tedious, and even the Brumbies have lost their ability to entertain.

Hopefully some good will come from all of this. I imagine every board of every club of every code in the country will be spending some time making sure they are squeaky clean. Let's hope so.

I hope so to ragnel - but if the Purple Rain were doing this for five years that's only a couple of years after the Bulldogs were stripped of their points for the same thing - as I remember from my Sports Commission days:

What's the difference between a sports administrator and a shopping trolley?

You can't fit as much booze and food into a shopping trolley but it's easier to control.

Ruck, maul, rolling maul, scrum (league has claytons scrums), lineout working the phases, maintaining possession rather than kicking after 5 tackles, the all blacks.... want more?.
One of the technical aspect of league they dont seem to be able to master is actuaklly making contact with the foot at the play the ball,

How often do you watch it? not that often but often enough to know it's shite

you may well be correct and prooves my point

Mumpad thinks Rocky Elsom is cute so thats the sealer.
Rumor: Billy Slater may cross to union.

Did I mention league is crap? Oh yeah so I did.

@dadpad,
You're right about the scrum and the play the ball.

But scrums are as boring as batshit, at least league gets them done ASAP. Who wants to see a union scrum pack down ten times in a row until they get it just right, or finally a penalty ensues and determines the game's result. Screw technical I want to see a contest.

You're entitled to your opinion - pity it's shite! Wink

Tell mum I like Rocky too (now that he's a Brumby!)

@hingehead,
Just calm down, hingehead. My mum always said that the great Victoria/New South rivalry was the result of their insecurity and need to feel important. If they keep telling everyone how great they are, perhaps we will all start to believe it; and if we believe it then they can believe it too.

When you know your own worth, you have no need to prove it, so I, for one, will not say anything to denigrate aerial ping pong.

@hingehead,
Hi hinge

I have absolutely zilch interest in Rugby League. But I've gotta tell you, our (Melbourne) media is running hot on this issue this afternoon. You couldn't avoid it if, even you wanted to. (And I sorta wouldn't mind. Wink )

Apparently the polizia are now to be involved! Complaints will be made. Investigations conducted! Charges may follow!

@msolga,
Not so big up here. Hadn't heard about the police interest. I would have the Tax Office would be raising eyebrows however....
