Editing an IMI map file

I have an IMI map file that needs to be about 25mb's smaller to fit on small GPS internal drive. I can open the file with a few editors but cannot begin to guess what to cut out. I wish to cut out some state maps I don't need. Is there a wysiwyg imi file editor? How can I cut some data fromt this file without corrupting it? Thanks!
