I hope you all know who Napoleon is. It was said that Napoleon once led a French army to war. At sight of their enemies, Napoleon screamed "CHARGE!!!" However, his army did not even make a move. Why not?
They understood only French
I didn't happen to think so, in fact, i didn't reply when i first saw it, because it was too easy . . .
It's better to answer them rather then let them go. Then they think they are too hard.
Good point, Boss . . .
Here's one which some may find hard, and about which i felt rather dumb when given the answer. It is also a classic, and many may know it.
A man gets out of his tent in the morning of winter's day, and walks a thousand paces south, a thousand paces east and a thousand paces north, and, arriving back at his tent, sees a bear.
What color is the bear, and how do you know?
I remember this one from Grammar School. but I think I'll let BPB handel it. He's more familiar with that species.
Setanta,
That is my favorite riddle. One of these days I'm gonna write an essay on what makes a riddle great. That one has it all.
mmmm I think I see this, if he was in jellystone park and he walked 1000 yards south, 1000 east and a thousand north, he wouldn't be back at his tent he would be a 1000 yards east of it, so I think he must be at the north pole in which case white bear.
Bingo, Kev . . . i didn't get that one immediately, so it was a real, forehead slapping "Doh ! ! !" response when i was given the answer . . .
The correct answer is Bi-Polar Bear
How can you arrive back your tent if you walk south, east and then north? And how can you guarantee it is a white bear, when the starting position is not defined?
I having problems seeing this one, explanation anyone?
Actually, there's a horizontal circular line around the south pole that would work too. It has a circumference of exactly 1000 X, in this case yards. If you're exactly 1000 yards north of this line when you start out, then you will wind up at your camp.
Therefore, it is not a bear, but a rather large black and white penguin.
