Best Movie Posters of 2009
Here is our list of the top 10 best movie posters from 2009:
10. According To Greta
A cool, fresh feeling poster which makes a nice change from the over-used idea of filling posters with head shot’s of the movie’s stars.
9. Up
A good teaser poster which is wonderfully simple, yet it draws you in with the strikingly colourful balloons in the centre of the poster.
8. Sugar
Another simple poster, but there is something about this poster which just works.
7. A Christmas Carol
Some good work in photoshop makes this the best of the 4 ‘A Christmas Carol’ poster variations.
6. (500) Days Of Summer
This is an original design, and it is one which completely reflects the spirit of the film.
5. The White Ribbon
An Austrian film, ‘The White Ribbon’ is a film set in a small village in northern Germany in the years leading up to the start of World War I. This is a brilliant poster thanks to the haunting image of the child that has been used.
4. Brothers
What this poster lacks in colour, it makes up for in the concept. The movie is about one young man (Gyllenhaal) comforting his older brother’s (Maguire) wife (Portman) whilst Maguire’s character is M.I.A. in Afghanistan. The dividing line through the image sums up this story perfectly, as it makes the poster look asthough there have been two seperate images of either brother with Portman’s character cropped and pushed together.
3. The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus
A fantastic poster which initially features a beautiful portrait of Lily Cole, but then the more you look the more you notice " with loads of random images from the film. It works so well because it sums up perfectly this film, and the personality and style of director Terry Gilliam.
2. Inglorious Basterds
This poster is great because unlike 99% of movie posters which are churned out thesedays, it is an illustrated design. Also, despite starring one of the biggest names in Hollywood, there is nowhere on this, or any of the other posters that were released, that it mentions Mr Pitt’s name. The poster also manages to capture the no-nonsense feel of the film wonderfully.
1. Terminator: Salvation
This is a great concept and it has been executed brilliantly. A fantastic poster.
