Good Movie

From the writer of The Rookie, comes a story inspired by events in the life of ''Radio,'' about the mentoring relationship between a high school football coach (Ed Harris) and Radio (Cuba Gooding Jr.), a mentally challenged man who changed his life and transformed a small South Carolina town.

I've been hearing some good reviews on this too. It's too bad they named the movie just "Radio". I wouldn't of given it a second thought if I hadn't heard the reviews. I'm not much interested in a movie about entertainment radio.

Hope the title doesn't keep it from getting the viewership it deserves. That town sounds like a wonderful place to live. That guy struggling to finish each race and not allowing himself to give up is a real inspiration.

Radio was installed as the team mascot and the film is the story about the coach struggling with the townspeople to keep him there. The reviews are good and, thankfully, there's no final triumphant game in the film. Ebert and Roeper called the film sweet. I don't know if I'm just prepared for "sweet," and likely will wait for this one on cable or DVD.

No, I don't always find I agree with just Ebert and Roeper and the opinions I find on these forums are also important. It's rather I will make the time to go to the cineplex for every film that hits the screen. I watch nearly every film, including foreign and independent by way of renting the DVD from NetFlix, watching it on cable or even buying it (that is, if I haven't felt that the big screen and digital sound will make any real difference). Now that I have high def TV, I find the projection at the local cineplex to be of inferior quality.
