Does anyone here use a MIDI connection to link a keyboard/electric piano to computer software? I have a digital piano and a PC running Windows 98SE. I would like to be able to play something on the piano and have the computer translate it to sheet music. Can someone help me get started? (software recommendations, etc.)
Ooooh, good question. I have one of those electric piano keyboards and always wanted to know how to hook it up to the PC.
My guess would be having something to do with hooking up a cable from the piano to the input port on the sound card (similar to hooking up a microphone to record a wav file)...but I could be way off base. Hopefully someone already familiar with it will come along and let us know.
'Tis an interesting question indeed. I haven't done it meself but one such program I've heard good things about is
Finale.

By the way the MIDI input port is the joystick port on your sound card.
