I was given a laptop with a 40 gig hard drive which is partitioned to two 20 gig partitions.
How do I remove the partition so itis ONE hard drive of 40 gigs?
@ronmac60,
A question might be... why do you want to do that?

Let me second this question.
I think one would have to reformat the entire hard drive then reinstall ones Operating System.
@tsarstepan,
Besides, you not going to get the entire 40 gigabyte hard drive to use. You still need some space for the OS itself.
@ronmac60,
There are a number of freeware programs that you can use to accomplish this. The one I'm most familiar with is "gparted". You download the disk image, burn it to a CD or DVD, then boot to it.
