I was given this riddle and really have no clue what the answer is. If you have any thoughts please share them with me. Thanks.

I am what you cannot be
But you once were
What I will become

I am what only blind can see
And of infinity and 1 I am the sum
I am the cure and I am the cancer

The riddle is the answer
is the riddle is the answer

exactly... it's "nothing" , you can't see nothing at all! , you were nothing, and nothing remains nothing in the end! ... the blind views nothing, it's an infinity, and the combination of everything since "nothing can include everything", nothing is a cure because diseases always come back, and nothing is a cancer because cancer is a specific identified illness! .. @golden5,
Quote:

I am ---> Will become ---> You cannot be what I will become.

Eyes are utilised to "see", however if you are "blind", perhaps meaning death of sense organ, do you not "see" death?

If you are the sum of infinite and 1, are you not infinite?

Is death infinite?

Death, specifically the result of trauma, or in this case disease, which may be "cancer", furthermore is also the "cure", again, perhaps death.

This may be a rhetoric tautology, hence repeating the "riddle" is infact the riddle, however can the riddle be substituted for death, cognitive synonym perhaps.

Acknowledge that I am assuming:
death=/=nothing

@Anomie,
To clarify my error:
Quote:
I am what you cannot be
But you once were
What I will become

I am what you cannot be > Will become what you once were > You

I retract my original post, being that I am no longer certain.

It is not death.

Evolution perhaps?
