Desperately need answer to riddle! It's driving me crazy!

I am looking for the answer to the following riddle. It has been said that the majority of fourth-graders get this right on the first attempt. I am stumped.

RIDDLE: What one thing do rich people have that poor people don't have and is greater than god?

Hi Ldomm - welcome to A2K.

I think your riddle has lost its original wording. The version I've heard is a little longer, but is basically: What is it that rich people need, poor people have, and is greater than god? And the answer is nothing.

The wording is incorrect. It should say: "What one thing do rich people have that poor people don't have and believes to be greater than god?"

The answer is George W. Bush

Maybe I belong in fourth grade. Add the letter "L" inside "GOD" making it greater (larger) than "GOD" and you have gold, which the rich have and the poor do not.

The full wording of the riddle is as follows :

What is it that the poor have, the rich need, is greater than God, more evil than the devil, but if you eat it you'll die ?

Spikedangel's version is the full version. The part about the fourth graders is just meant to confuse you, (I doubt many would get it correct.)
