When I was courting my current wife, we lived in the same apartment building. One day when I was visiting her, her parents were cooking a chicken on an outdoor grill. The chicken was roasting up so nice and succulent, all golden brown, filling the air with a smell that went straight to my appetite. I stood near it, transfixed, for a minute - did so a couple of times. I knew none of it was for me, that there was barely enough for them. But they had seen me salivating and hustled it indoors. They got my future bride to lure me off first, of course. I still miss that chicken. Mm mm.
