I think "homeland" has a certain Norman Rockwellian ring to it and whenever I hear the phrase I am compelled to sing something patriotic.

I forgot what Giuliani forgot; what did he forget (breathtakingly)?

That we were attacked by terrorists on 9/11/01, during Bush's term. He dumbly commented the other day that Bush had kept us safe from all terrorist attacks during his term.

Presumably, he meant since 9/11.
Its a fact that after 9/11, we had no further attacks
during W 's Administration.

Cheney did a good job!
He has my admiration and gratitude

Untrue. The Anthrax letter were sent after 9/11, and the shoe bomber (Richard Reid) attacked after 9/11 as well - which is the functional equivalent of this wacko on Xmas. Rudy was trying to point out that nothing like that happened under Republican watch... clearly incorrect and a joke.

NO; comparing shoebomer to 9/11

He wasn't comparing the shoe bomber to 9/11; the comparison is between the guy on Xmas who tried to blow up his pants, with Richard Reid, the guy who tried to smuggle explosives in his shoes.

I take it that Rudy was pointing out that there was just ONE 9/11 -- no more attacks like 9/11.

Shoebomers or underwear bomers are in a different universe than 9/11.

I 'd change the name, or abolish it if I coud,
and put its jurisdiction under the FBI or NSA,
not create a new agency in the name of George Orwell.

In that case, we all agree that Obama has been doing a great job in national security for the past year.

At the moment, I can 't think of any objection to that.
There is the matter of failure to put the nigerian on the no-fly list,
but that error coud have happened under any other president
and O boy has taken proper precautions to avoid repetition.
I am satisfied with his response to it.

You take it wrong. Rudy stated that we hadn't been attacked by terrorists under Bush's watch, period. That's why it was laughable.

Shoebomers or underwear bomers are jokes; nonsense.
9/11 was very serious.

Well, I agree; but that wasn't the point that Rudy was making. He was stating that this represented a failure on Obama's part, in the way that Bush didn't fail. He was trying to score political points off of this issue and ended up hurting himself through poor language choice.

I agree that Shoebomers or underwear bomers
are equally foolish n without substance.

I will blame neither president for either, in good conscience.
If I had been President, I don 't believe that I 'd have done any better.
Tho I voted against Dinkins and for Rudy:
I don t care for Rudy; never did.
Since he was US Attorney, I 've not thawt that he was in his right mind.

The 300+ passengers on the Detroit flight would disagree with you, but only for the two and half minutes of horror it would take for the plane, and them, to actually hit the ground.

That's what pissed me off about the verbal gymnastics bullshit, homeland and all.

These motherf--kers are serious about their religiously driven campaign to kill as many people they consider infidels as they are able. We need to get very serious about preventing them from doing so.
Take down all the embroidery, start collecting information with a single calculated focus, take no days or nights off until they, and not us, are all dead.

I am not a sapper; I have never been a sapper.
As a layman (who flies a lot) I just take their efforts as the foolishness
of fanatics of poor intellect; ineffective.
That is very different than what Atta did on 9/11.

Anyway, I 'm glad that the shoebomer got life in prison.

P.S.: Did I lie ?

@Joe Nation,
Tomorrow evening at 7, some friends of mine
have invited me to join them for dinner at the Cornell Club
at 6 East 44th St (Madison - 5th Ave.) for seafood.

I am paying $65 gross. + wine for stuffed lobster.
This is not my group, tho some of my members
have set up the dinner. R u interested in attending ?

If not, then we can have the drink another time.
