We're taking army-crazy Mo and his droogs to play lazer tag for his birthday; I want to make them "team" T-shirts instead of putting together the typical birthday party goodie bag.
He'll be 9 so I'd like to incorporate "9" somewhere in the idea.
The name he made up for himself, that he uses in daily life, has the initials KJB -- sort of like KGB -- so something sort of Russian might work. (K's Komrads? (backwards R))
Or, since his initail is "K" and he'll be 9 something about dogs might be cool.
Any ideas?
"K-9 Brigade"
"Niners K Platoon"
@boomerang,
He could use the military alphabet. When speaking on the radio, the letters used are spoken phonetically so the person on the other side is less likely to misinterpret them.
Kilo Juliet Bravo9!
A: Alpha
B: Bravo
C: Charlie
D: Delta
E: Echo
F: Foxtrot
G: Golf
H: Hotel
I: India
J: Juliet
K: Kilo
L: Lima
M: Mike
N: November
O: Oscar
P: Papa
Q: Quebec
R: Romeo
S: Sierra
T: Tango
U: Uniform
V: Victor
W: Whiskey
X: X-Ray
Y: Yankee
Z: Zulu

@tsarstepan,
Or K Battery 1/9th Armor Battalion !
@boomerang,
The Kick Butt 9th "Tagticle" Unit
Hey! You guys are good!
I love the alphabet idea but I worry that they'd want to wear them to school and the school would see "Kilo" as a drug reference instead of a military reference.
I probably should avoid "butt" for the same reason -- but the kids would love that!
Brigade works great with the letter "B" for his last name though!
The K------ J------ Brigade -- uses his initials but isn't such an obvious reference to him....... hmmmmm......
Battery and Battallion both work with "B" too!
Ohhh. Kommandos!
I found these military insignia for k-9 units. Maybe I could riff one one of these?
What do you think about this? Is it kind of military looking? It will just be a small symbol on a black T-shirt. (The radioactive sign is just because Mo loves radioactive signs.)
Is that how they'd write the date in the military?
Should I put the time on it? 3:00 PM -- would that be 1500? 15:00?
@boomerang,
Should be "corps", I think. Pronounced the same, though.
@boomerang,
And for 9 year-old boys, I would think a biohazard symbol would be more accurate.

@boomerang,
I think that looks wicked awesome. I like the curliness of the biohazard sign but the solidity and the pop of yellow in the radioactive symbol looks really good in that design.
A thought -- is there likely to be any "you didn't invite me" fallout if the kids who attended the party wear the shirts to school? Or are boys beyond that stuff? (Sozlet is again in a phase where she's totally fed up with girls and their drama...)
@boomerang,
I forgot to say that I think the design is great as-is.
Biohazard will work in yellow, though:

Thanks!
Here's an update. Better?
I like that biohazard sign better but I think I'll stick with the radioactive. The whole thing put together is pretty small .... maybe 3 inches square so the bolder areas show up better.
I've never heard Mo complain about not being invited to parties and he's not really ever invited to parties (
)
Thanks!
Mo liked it too. Except he wanted the radiation symbol to be bigger. We've compromised by adding a sleeve insignia.
