What type of chemical reaction forms a product where the total volume and mass of the reactants before reaction combined is less than the volume of the final product.

Well, make up your mind. Are you talking volume, or are you talking mass?

There is no chemical reaction I'm aware of that will change the mass.

Volume can change enormously, however. Change the state of water; while the mass stays constant, the volume can change a tremendous amount.
