A 98-year-old woman has been indicted on a murder charge, accused of strangling her 100-year-old roommate in a Massachusetts nursing home.

A grand jury returned the indictment against Laura Lundquist. A judge sent her to a state mental hospital for a competency evaluation.

Her roommate, Elizabeth Barrow, was found dead with a plastic bag over her head at the nursing home on September 24.

Mrs Barrow's son, Scott Barrow, said Lundquist had made threatening remarks to his mother and said she would outlive Mrs Barrow.

Nursing home officials have said the women refused chances to switch rooms and were friendly towards each other.

She shoud have had an armed guard,
for when she was sleeping.

if only mrs. barrow had a plastic bag of her own, i mean if both women had plastic bags it would have been like reagan and the soviets, assured mutual destruction

Having had worked in a nursing home for a number of years, I could tell many stories of roommate rage, murderous desires and general seething hatred.

Most of the time, they both want the OTHER person to be moved to another room. They absolutely won't entertain the thought of moving their bible, pictures of their grandchildren, and their hidden bag of starlite mints (which they swear the other one is stealing) down the hall.

That's the ladies. The men just ignore each other, pretending the others fluatulence doesn't bother them.
