Weird or trained?

We adopted two 7-year-old mixed Brittanys and noticed unusual behavior. When walking them, if they stop along the side of a path, the will resume by first walking around behind you. Were they trained as hunting dogs (to avoid being in front of guns), or are they just weird?

how great of you to adopt two dogs and give them a nice home!
Yes, Brittanys are hunting dogs and they might have had specific training towards that. Be careful, so they won't go after birds which is their primary
hunting object. Do you know where the dogs came from originally?

We adopted a cute mutt (avatar picture) a few months ago, unfortunately
she's had no training whatsoever and is very rambunctious Smile
