rather dainty , isn't it ?

http://thebegavalley.org.au/uploads/tx_steverplantgallery/Opercularia_aspera_03_stinkweed.jpg

unfortunately it's a STINKWEED !

Quote:
This weed is an annual or a winter annual. It reproduces by seed. The plant has an unpleasant odour, particularly when the leaves are crushed. The stems are smooth, erect, 5-60 cm (2-24 in.) high, and often branched. The lower leaves can be in the form of a rosette. In erect plants, the leaves are alternate and without hairs. The upper leaves clasp the stem. The flowers are small, stalked, and have white petals.

Stinkweed can produce up to 15,000 seeds per plant. The seeds can live for up to 6 years in the tillage zone. Seeds that are buried deeper than the tillage zone can live for up to 20 years and germinate when they come close to the surface. Seed dormancy is enhanced by a thick seed coat.

we dress just a tad warmer in canada - THE GREAT WHITE NORTH

mrs. h took my picture this morning before we set out for the pool Laughing

http://www.arcticwebsite.com/Eskimo1.jpg

btw. OTTAWA - canada's capital - is the second coldest capital city in the world after ULAN BATOR , mongolia .
ottawa has the longest SKATEWAY in the world - about kms 8 long .
it's the frozen RIDEAU CANAL .
however this year there has been little ice on the canal - just like there is little ice on lake ontario - i blame it all on the global COOLING TREND Shocked Laughing
it's interesting to note that summers in OTTAWA are actually quite hot and humid . while we live about 150 kms south of ottawa , our temperatures are more moderate because of our proximity to lake ontario .
