seahorses (see-pferdchen in german) can actually be kept and bred in an aquarium ;
as kids we used to vacation with our parents on the north-sea quite often and catching a seahorse and keeping it in a glassjar during the vacation was part of it ; before returning home it would be released into the sea again .
