How Much for health care insurance?

Due to circumstance, I find myself without medical insurance. (I have dental and optical)

I am 61, in excellent health, rarely sick. I can afford Dr. visits and 1/2 cost of prescriptions and need emergency room coverage and catastrophic insrance.

Bids I have are from $600 - 750 PER MONTH!! I can't afford that.

I am considering not even having any coverage at all and taking the risk of not having emergency hospital needs.

Thoughts?

@sullyfish6,
Is there something in your area on the order of an HMO scheme that an individual could get into? That's just a thought.

Will you scream* if I tell your bids are relatively reasonable. When I was working, the combined company and employee for a single person just broke the $600.00 level per month, and that was group coverage.

*I was afraid you would.
