That's very interesting. Do you have much info on applying for asylum in the Philippines?

I found it to be crowded, congested, and polluted. It can take a good two hours to travel two miles and most of the city's main attractions are mega-malls and luxury hotels. I was hoping to experience a bit of Filipino history but didn't find much.

On the other hand, the provinces outside Manila were beautiful. There's a lot of historical stuff and natural beauty up north, even just a few hours outside the city. There's even more down in the southern islands, I'm told, but we didn't go there during our trip because it wasn't a safe place to be at the time. (Dunno how safe it is even now, but at any rate it seems not to be making international headlines as often.)
