Went to Mackinaw Island for a long weekend.

No vehicles allowed on island. Horses and bicycles only. Took a taxi to lodging.

Wonderful. I especially liked the taxi photo, and the expansive one of the hotel. Also enjoyed the "cantalevered deck" photo, cool.

How was the trip over the bridge? There are stories about people getting half way across and panicking and needing someone to drive them the rest of the way. I HATE BRIDGES!!! I don't think I could do it.

We live in Michigan and HAVE to get our Big Mac "fix" at least once a year. Drive all the way up there just to drive over the bridge and back.

Personally, I think the Island is over-rated. The stores were full of foreign items and restaurants were crowded.

For a real treat, just go to the Upper (peninsula) and see the Soo Locks and eat the whitefish. Yum.

Wow. Reading that statement brought me up short. I LOVE BRIDGES!!! Once started a whole collection of photos of various spans.

Bridges connect things. What could be more noble?
