" technichally" now there's a word worth looking into;

having a place in the mechanical world?

or
being more about technique, than results?

or
manufactured from old nickels?

I'm actually fond of picturing the hamsters with limbs made from old nickels.

I have a pitch for the next Terminator movie: "Return of the Hamsters, Nickel-limbed and angry in Sudbury."

It renders them able to 'turn on a dime' which is always useful at a2k!

Hey, Beaware; I liked your poem too. I'm glad to see your work here on A2K, and I hope to see more of it to come Very Happy.

(This is one of my favourite threads too..)

Thanks for the welcome. I'm beginning to like this thread as well. Razz

I think I'll look around a while before I post more of my work. Get the lay of the land, as they say. Razz

But here's another poem...

It happened nearly overnight
When Autumn's frost takes it's bite
Your limbs and boughs take to flight
With faded glory and colors bright

The air turns crisp, but not too cold
The Heavenly painter uses colors so bold
His canvas changes as the seasons unfold
For Life is a miracle one has to behold.

Gather me in a pale moonlit gown, and I shall collect the dust, strewn by my night and your wondering.

What does that mean Drom, "do it for the goats"?

Is BST Brithish standard time??

I love your LINE... and I also wondered if -
in the last phrase you meant to say....

'by my night and your wandering'.... (it is not a matter of either being 'correct' but to tell me what it means)

Boy, I am just FULL of questions today- what!!??

Hey, TOL Very Happy!

Well, basically there is going to be a mass meeting on September the 6th, here on A2K, due to this attempt to break the previous record of people online. 'Do it for the goats' isn't anything lewd, thank heavens; I've found that one of the most common scams in society is for people to bring in animals, somehow, to a cause-- because they unleash everyone's protective side. So, I've invoked the goats of Gus in the hope for maximum exposure to the cause ;D.

Thanks about the line, TOL Very Happy.. I thought that I had better write something spontaneous, despite my summer drought... all that I've seemed to churn are poems in prose. I meant 'wondering' rather than 'wandering;' I pronounce them both the same, like a mutated a, which is a source of confusion, but I meant to say 'wondering.' I wrote those lines mainly to appeal to whatever anyone thinks that they are; there are few meanings that I'd think are wrong, though I have an idea of what I meant in mind.

You're close; BST is British Summer time, what we go under from March 21st until September 20th, I think. Daylight savings really confuses everything, and in England it's totally redundant; there's hardly ever daylight, so what's the point Very Happy?

Thank you so much, dròm_et_rêve.

If we all on A2K (including myself) were as spontaneous, helpful, cheerful and talented as you....hey, even I would fight to be here more often. You are "awright". (That's a real country compliment in the South of USA.)

I try to read when I can, but am often at my Mother's side. She is very elderly, heck, I am elderly Very Happy -
and she is drifting into her eternity. Makes me want to go too.

Thanks again... makes it all more interesting.

Hey, TOL:

I am really complimented Very Happy. I'm very happy that you consider me this; it has made my night Very Happy through these hard times. I like nothing more than being around people like this Very Happy. I wish that you were around more often, as I find you so kind and talented, but I understand that there are far bigger things to do. You and your mother both have my blessings and thoughts, though I hope that there's a lot in you left. I've always been a believer in not going gently into that good night.

Lots of love,
Drom

No problem, Color Very Happy.

*Blush* I didn't realise that there might be much-- ambiguity-- as to what 'do it for the goats' meant ;D.

Inspired by drom and her magic writings.

Windy cliffs of ice
Melting down to sea
Drowning all sorrow
That's no longer part of me

Relevant in time
The pieces find their place
Enriched with sunshine
To feel warmth upon my face

Clouds of distance
Drifting promises beyond
To all I ever want to be
I'll wave my magic wand

That was beautiful and so welcomely optimistic, Colorbook. I have missed your poems, but I'm twice as glad that they're back.

A little song--

Beneath the shrivelled melon-sun
The two gypsies are kissing.
The night is long, the road before them
Shows them what they're missing.

The pavement burns their bare chalk feet,
But they can hardly notice.
She carries brush leaves in her hair
And sups at wells of water.

Beneath the shrivelled melon-sun
The two gypsies are kissing.
The night is long, the roads behind them
Show them what they're missing.

Drom, thanks for the nice things you say about my poetry.

Anyway, I like your "A Little Song." It reminds me of a Gypsy Lovers Song Smile , but I can't find the lyrics to it.

Colorbook, you know that I am nothing if sincere when it comes to poetry Very Happy. Your words are often like the music that your signature describes.

A little song is just a provisional title Very Happy. I was overinspired by Lorca, I guess ;D. I'd be interested in seeing the song if you find it!

Ack, yer all making me weepy. For my wife:

Weather or whether,
never interferes
with our fears,
except on days
the tumult rises,
in seemingly overwhelming
sizes.

We sit and think,
think and talk,
take a mental walk
down memory lane.

Then our thoughts become
a strange parade of welcome,
and 'yes'.
Doubly blessed,
we are.

That was a beautiful ode, Cav. I'm really happy for the pair of you Very Happy.

(Did you intend to write the first lines, before the poem, in the fashion of that Scottish thing from the Austen Powers movie ;D?)

No, actually, but I think an 'Austen Powers' movie might just be the best thing recorded regarding "Dick and Jane." Laughing
