Thanks, Letty. Now, the chaos continues. We have to attend my daughter's other two children for an evening. LOL

Edgar
Edgar,

Once again you get to remember
rocking a newborn in arms tender,
diapers washed and hung in the sun
the feel and scent when you were young,
your first child seven times repeated
lust and love have you created,
eternal proof that you were here
smiles and hugs, Edgar, dear.

No more time to mourn you
(then why are the minutes like hours)
I am moving on, moving up, choosing MY life
(then why do i still wait by the phone)
I am over YOU, and can look at your picture and smile
(through tears of pain, hurt, anguish that I would never be enough)
I wish you could see how I am smiling now
(and how my jaw hurts from clenching my teeth)
And by the way, I've found someone new!
(Funny how this one too, looks a lot like YOU)

Feeling like Churchill,
watching the gathering storm
outside, playing war games
with the massing clouds.
Which side is which?
Difficult to tell.
A hard rain serves both
the flowers and the powers.

BBB, Letty, Cav:
I wish I could convey the joy I am getting from your words of heartfelt beauty and inspiration.
Willow_tl and Turner: Hello and welcome. Turner; do you have any relatives in TX, CA, or GA? We both apparently have the same surname. I just use edgarblythe to post on here.
Willow: I like your poem and the way you express yourself.

Ride the pinto horse
Across the Pampas plains
Ride a steady course
And don't pull on those reins
The Pinto can see beyond your plans
You gotta look closely through your hands

I rode the Pinto horse
I was a gaucho plain
Unto the very source
Of any man's pain
The Pinto could see beyond my plans
I had to look closely through my hands

Tonight the moon is full
In steady force
To light upon its way
The Pinto horse
The Pinto can see beyond your plans
You gotta see closely through your hands

Has Edgar passed the muse to sweet number seven?
Has this night once more opened up heaven
and brought forth a love sweet and tender?
Sweet Edgar holding petal soft skin and breathing in sweet baby's breath, will again render
a young life with books, love and poetry in all its splendor.
'Tis a lucky baby to know this man of all seasons.

Congratulations Edgar. I am sooo ready to be a grandmother. Each time one of my sons brings home a new girlfriend, I'm very tempted to ask her if she's fertile!! (Just kidding.)

I lost a little self-respect today
by joining in the political fray.

A perception full of insults
got me to respond with woeful results.

To defend a man I love
Caused me to want to shove

Is patriotism worth it?
Have I lowered my standard to do it?

Well yes, but it felt so good at the time
Another asshole should be ripped in the idiot's behind!

No, no, I will not lose my cool
Ever the lady, I didn't even drool.

The joys of grandparenting are so different than mere parenting. I don't know how to describe it, except that it's an affirmation, a touch of immortality - and the kids love you without the dynamic of parent/child antagonism that developes. In that sense, it is a more pure love than you know with your own children.

I have been dipping into the political threads a bit less these days. The conservatives always strike me as mean spirited and always refuse to admit anything, so, I see no real reason to discuss things with them. The real discussion should be with the great mass of undecided voters. Winning elections is the only real discussion on the map.

Imagine there's no G W
It's harder than you think
No hope for the liberals
No matter how bad things stink
Imagine all the people
Getting a real break
You might say I'm old fashioned
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you will join us
And the return to freedom will be won

Wait a sec, that's not a poem
I didn't have a lofty tome
in mind today, just a thought,
unfinished yes, but nonetheless,
The Shadow knows the answer,
but the question is 'no sale'.
The dude who was The Shadow died,
and didn't leave an e-mail.

Edgar, loved your poem. Imagine is part of my email address--I guess because I still like to think there is a possibility and because I don't think you have to be a patriot to want what's best for your country. Ah well, I've had my fill of politics on a2k--just sorry I lowered myself to a particular person's standards.

Standards, schmandards, it's all beyond my view
And if someone was in the know, I'll bet the Shadow knew.
So try to keep your focus and don't play by their sick rules,
And imagine that there is a world where one's word is really true.
