I wrote this one long ago, but feel it is appropriate here

like the seaman with his ayes
the winner with his prize
youve winnowed in my heart
better than whistlers art

i love you like peanut butter
and any milk giving udder
we are building something special
like a condominium big and spacial

please continue writing here
i will buy you all cyber beer
any time i ever let you down
give me a kick but not a frown

@jjorge,
Of all my literary labors, this thread has been the most satisfying. To think, a while back I was abandoning it.

a home
filled with poems
and ponderous tomes
is so comforting
and disconcerting
is the thought to roam

As 'That Day' approaches'

I don't acknowledge birthdays any more,
but each year when my DOB arrives
I drink some beer -maybe three,
or maybe four or five!
and smile, because, somehow I'm still alive,

knowing that before to long I'll 'pass'
this fellow doesn't look for gifts or pelf,
instead I simply hoist my foamy glass,
and wish a happy burpday to myself.

i ain't older than the mountains
they ain't older than me
north is higher than the southlands
ain't no borders for me

mountains may be turned to rubble
death can overtake me
mountains are just a big bubble
only water is me

sprinkle me over the mountains
where the eagle soars free
forever the cycle maintains
for the mountains and me

the grease is in my gears
and i roll on alone

then they quickly will see
he is the man thats gone

@ossobuco,
Walking the flat wet sand
waves slink up to your feet,
toes squish slushing, and
digging heels do not meet
fading footsteps on the strand.
