I questioned the authhority behind the voice and heard,
Why? Because I said so, that's why!

I took a chance and hesitated when I heard,
I'm going to give you until the count of three!

I didn't listen and paid the price and then I heard,
It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt!

I feigned ignorance and took a chance and then I heard,
I don't know is NOT an answer!

Walking was not to be an option, but then I heard,
I'm not running a taxi service!

I only did it because Jimmy did and then I heard,
If everyone jumped off a cliff would you do it too?

Making goofy faces was part of my plan when suddenly I heard,
Someday your face will freeze like that!

Can I have those stovepipe pants, after all, they are the fad,
Go ask your dad!

I don't want to help, I want to play and suddenly I heard,
I hope someday when you have kids they're just like you, then you'll know

Hey Mom can I go out and play?
No you can't Bob, Sue, Joe, Fido..whatever your name is...

Thanks Mom!

Thank you very much edgarblythe for the kind words.

Sometimes I get inspiration and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I feel like and nut and sometimes I don't.

the night is still around me
wrapped around the cool breeze
my footsteps on the pavement
a movement in the trees

the street is like it is in day
it's only absent light
the world takes on an aspect
of shadows and of sight

it's cool and it's thoughtful
the only other souls
knowing nighttime passwords
knowing nighttime rules

there are no interruptions
of thought or whim or time
the world just slumbers past me
I'm free to do what's mine

to BM may not sound so good
and only means just what it should
don't take it wrong as you embark
you'll find it only means "Bookmark"

Cold muddy snow
a promise of spring
the chill in the air
turns quickly
into warm summer rain

Hey Ed, Color .... be eating those morels pretty soon Smile

It has been pretty much spring here for a few weeks. Today is a setback, but everything is beginning to sprout and bloom.

woodpeckers inside the willow
peep out at strangers on the sidewalk
and the robins outside the window
fat as chickens waddle when they walk
jays and cardinals hide
when mockingbirds fly
springs everywhere is the talk . . .

There has been snow on the ground all winter here...as soon as one batch melts a new batch begins.

the days will get longer
and much more polite
when the springtime issues
the time saving light

not even one Robin
the first sign of spring
just tons of wet white stuff
upon everything

We had an inch or two of snow this year. In Corpus Christi they got several inches of it.

as birds sing merrily
outside my window here
they welcome sunshine on this morn
and then they disappear

the frigid blasted winter
forges on in natures way
and I am grateful that the weatherman
forecasts no snow today

Look
under your bed
there on the floor
what is that green pod
what could it be?
wait, was that the sound
of a closing door?
my god could it be?
The Walmart body snatchers
they've come for me!
YAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa.........

in circles wide

doesnt care
rides his bicycle
round and round
when he looks
up
eyes wide either
or
mouth open
or
all alone
immersed, inside
little kid
rides his bicycle
in cirles wide.
