Ok, this is an easy poll (I need a poll in each forum to test code).
Which of the choices is the
most famous.
If a more famous one exists let me know.
To me, the most
famous riddle is:
Why did the chicken cross the road?
To get to the other side!
Playing with
squares.
draw a square. divide it into four identical squares. remove the bottom left hand square. now divide the
resulting shape into four identical shapes.
most famous riddle
what walks on 4 legs then 2 then 3 is my vote
i have to go with Phoenix on this one.
It was playing noughts and crosses, Phoenix, and needed to get across.
I don't even know Samson's riddle.
The 4 leg-2 leg-3 leg one is aClassic.
And I don't know that one. Is it like: What does a man do standing up, that a dog does on three legs, and a lady does sitting down?
I go with the chicken crossing the road, simply because I think it's the first one every kid in America learns (and thinks is hilariously funny, too, and therefore repeats it over and over and over.
I have to agree with those who voted for, "Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side". It seems to be the only riddle that all the kids know.
...well, except for those riddles that they make up themselves.
Which, Matrix, are usually based very closely on the chicken crossing the road idea (i.e. why did the fireman cross the road or why did the dog cross the road followed by some illogical reasoning which they think is even funnier than the original). I love kids' humor.
Why did the turkey cross the road?
To prove he wasn't a chicken. haha!
How about "What's grey and comes in gallons?"
an elephant.
First riddle I ever heard, had to have it explained to me, still didn't get it. I was about seven when my mother told it to me.
That explains a lot doesn't it?
Don't forget the famous moron series....Why did the moron throw is clock out the window?
He wanted to see time fly.
Why did the moron take a ruler to bed?
To see how long he slept.
There are many....each more hilarious than the last.
Y'all remember the nasty LaMachine riddles?
