GLUTTONY

And they laid their hands upon the good things which were before them to eat . . .

Can one be impeached by his fellows for having and consuming more than others? Is the occasional holiday belly stuffer a rare and harmless treat, or is the abstemious woman most to be admired?

How do you feel about gluttony?

I believe that is being human to overindulge in food, drink, sex, shopping etc. from time to time. It is the person who commits these acts as a life pattern, who is to be pitied.

I would be very leery of the perpetually abstemious woman, who prides herself in her moderation. I would suggest that such a person is either a liar or pathologically anal retentive.

Moderation should never be employed in excess.

A little gluttony now and then is great. Being a wastrel is another tale...

You folks cannot imagine the pleasure this exercise has already afforded me, to the sound of much laughing aloud . . .

I thank you all . . .

It's hard to be a glutton when you live on a shoe-string!

Set, are you going to fire off all 7 in one go? Now that IS over-indulgence! Smile

Occasional, rare and harmless.

Often, common and evil.

full agreement here;

is there a difference between gluttony and greed?

only if the gluttony is attributed to an occassional personal binge, which can only serve to bolster one's awareness of the benefits of restraint.

A habit of glutonny is a form of slow suicide. You are taking away from your life little by little

So does smoking and drinking, but those aren't deadly sins. And why not, I'd like to add. I guess nine deadly sins isn't as catchy.

How could you say gluttony is wrong? It's what it is, how can it be considered wrong? You can be just as gluttonous as I could breathe and it really shouldn't matter. I sustained boo boo to head playing a "sport" and now typing is hard.................
