@BorisKitten,
Congrats on loving and your job! That's a lot harder than it sounds for a lot of people.
@sakhi,
Why sure I remember you, sweetie!
<waves happily>
Yep, a public library! Been there just over 2 years now, part-time (lucky me!).
I love it. Just when I think I've seen it all, "the public" does something amazing, shocking, funny, or scary. Never a dull moment, and yes, it's often difficult.
Some days I talk so much I'm actually hoarse by the end of the day. Who'd a thunk?
Hey! It's BorisKitten! Welcome home, sweetie!
Isn't that just like a cat...gone three years, then walks in and rubs your leg like it's never been gone...
Latest library story: An unknown fellow asked me, "How many people are working here today?" I hesitated for a moment, thinking, "Uh oh!" I said, "Er, four."
He left for half an hour and came back and asked my co-worker the very same question. She looked suspiciously at him (I'd told her his previous question) before answering.
When she too responded, "four," he produced a bag with Whitman's Samplers in it, in special Easter colors. Four of them. He gave one to each of us, saying, "Happy Easter!"
We don't even know this guy's name.
Another co-worker later said, "I was afraid he was counting bullets!"
They were good chocolates, too. I ate 'em all. Thank you, stranger!
