Why, when I click on 'Unanswered questions', am I presented with many questions which have had several answers?

@rhymer,

the author of a Question has the option of selecting the best answer.
until they do so, the topic stays in that category...

Many thanks for your instant reply!

I realise there is a difference between a reply and an answer.
I was not aware that a questioner had to select one of the replies as a 'best' answer, so I will need to review all my questions!
