the comment boomerang made about picking the beverly hillbillies as what sitcom she'd want her life to be like reminded me of this. Like when granny would have her big pot of lye soup simmering out by the ce-ment pond.
endymon has mentioned on another thread how much he likes Pears Soup. I was in a dollar store and they were selling bars of it. I liked it so much after 1 shower, I went back and bought a dozen bars. Considering how little it takes to make a lather, I've probably got enough bath soap for the rest of my life. I just rub my nylon scrubbie on it, so it's not messy.
Anyway, I'd gotten used to using body wash for years, so I looked on the internet and saw how you can grate a bar of soap and make body wash.
Grating was too much work, so I just put a bar in a bowl of water, and let nature take it's course. For about 3 or 4 days I'd mush the soap around once a day, break it up, pour off the soapified water into a large mixing bowl and pour on fresh water to the lump remaining.
I looked at the mess this morning, and took one of those stick mixers and smoothed it all out, adding a little bit of honey.
Now I've got a freaking GALLON of pearlescent body wash.
I did not know that one bar of soap would make a gallon of body wash. For a dollar no less.
Those body wash people have quite a racket going, if you ask me.
i thought this might be about communal showers
@djjd62,
And I thought she was finally going to get around to washing her body.

Hmm...sounded like an offer to me. (Just there, between the shoulder blades, where it's hard to reach.)
A Dutch friend of mine makes body wash and cremes herself. She's always indulging in new fragrances and oils to perfect her creations. It's a fun hobby
to have, and so rewarding.

jiminy cricket, how much of the stuff can I use? That's like 8 bottles.
I wonder if I can sell that stuff at a farmers market?
Hey, I made it, I added honey.
All I need is some 5 gallon buckets and a paint mixer blade attached to a power drill.
I'll soften some of the bars up and press them into little molds, and let them harden. Voila! Designer type ****.
