anyone know anything about lancades?
anyone know anyone in pc repair and building?
any tips from someone directly involved in those markets?
I work with computer networks, troubleshooting, corporate firewalls, etc. I can help you brainstorm, but I'm not in the business myself.
I will note that I've seen several of these businesses in Austin, but none have had longevity.
The laser tag place is really popular, though.
I've heard anecdotally that margins in the PC bulding business are really small right now.
It used to be that hardware was expensive, and cutting out the middle man could save a bundle. But hardware has gotten lots cheaper, and the cost of the OS is now a major factor.
Big players like Dell get big discounts on the OS, so they can undercut small players.
Gaming PCs could be a boutique market, though, especially if you are creative and learn how to do case mods.
I also knew a guy who would buy broken arcade games to repair. He did fairly well, apparently.
