Sean Penn is set to play Larry. Jim Carrey is negotiating to play Curly. And Benicio Del Toro is talking Moe.

@edgarblythe,
Carrey is too skinny to be Curly. And Sean is a great actor but Larry? C'mon. However Benicio would be a great Moe.

@Rockhead,
Penn is surprising, but he would do an excellent job as always.

In 1959, when I was five years old, my father took me to the old Granada Theater in Chicago to see the Three Stooges in person. (Curly had died. I saw Moe, Larry, and Joe.) The Stooges walked down the center aisle to the stage. I had an aisle seat and saw Moe up close.

I don't know any woman who likes The Three Stooges. Their comedy seems to appeal much more to men. All that hitting and slapping is very adolescent in a locker room hijinks sort of way. I'll take the Marx Brothers over The Stooges any day. They should make a Marx Bros. biopic. Jim Carey could be Harpo.

@edgarblythe,
Is this for real, Edgar? I loved the 3 stooges, and quite frankly, I can't see anyone else replacing them and doing a good job.

I'd watch it if it came to TV, but I wouldn't pay to go to the movie theatre.

By the way, do you have a link to this story? Would like to read more.

There was a TV bio of the stooges. Curly had a rough time away from the studio. A drunk woman jabbed him in the eye with a cigar, once. I don't recall that many details.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks Edgar. I can't see this as good as the real thing though. Perhaps us older generation were spoiled that way. Maybe the younger lot will like them.

his is gonna be a travesty, it's not a bio pic it's three stooges style comedy

anyone involved with this movie should be put in a sack with some cinder blocks and thrown off a pier (add steve martin too, for shitting all over the ghost of peter sellers)

@djjd62,
Peter Sellers is an inspiration to many, not only Steve Martin. Your fellow Canadian, Mike Myers, keeps a photo of Peter Sellers in his dressing room, djjd.

@edgarblythe,
That was a good movie, which I've seen several times. I would welcome another.
