Are you asking about the casino game of Roulette? It's not any of those. It's a gambling game of chance.

of course; have you heard the phrase, "sporting chance"? that implies a fairly weighted competition; this is why hunting deer is not a sport, & beating up nerds isn't either, but boxing boxers in your weight class most definitely is.

Athletics, of course, involve physical activity &, often, but not always, competition (againast others, against your own best, etc.)

Yes, there is a difference. Athletics is a sports, but it is not necessary that sports will be atheletics always.
