i can't believe i missed seeing it when i was in ennis for six weeks. i walked by that movie theater 5 or 6 times a day.

then again i didn't know the name of it was 'bloom.


go figure.

Well, I got a copy of the new DVD today. Tomorrow eve I plan to watch it. Will report back then.

Well ...
The reading of Molly's soliloquy was interesting, though I was put off immediately that it was begun before the opening credits and concluded at the end. On a scale of one to ten: Save your money.

The 60s film was in some respects better. In the new one Bloom was a darker character than stephen I thought, while in the old movie the reverse is true. The internal monologues are almost mumbled. It has been some time since I last read from the book, but I think the newest film deviated from Joyce's words more than the first. By trying to get in more episodes they skimmed a lot more.

I'll have to repeat what I said early on in this thread: I really don't believe that Ulysses can be turned into a movie without sacrificing almost all of Joyce's style and intent.
