RSS Feed Control and Blogging

How can I post a blog entry without making it show up on people's RSS feeders?

I have a number of readers who get updates when I post on my blog and a few have said it's a pain when they get an alert every time I correct a typo or add some minor detail that's important for the sake of correctness but doesn't matter enough to prompt readers to look at the post all over again.

Along with this, I have a backlog of stuff I want to publish to give a better sense of completeness on the blog and also so my readers can refer to the material in the archive. However, it's obviously dated and I don't want to clog up feeds with it. Is there some way I can post "on the quiet"?

@ColinColin,
Make sure your blog software uses the right guid for what you want to do. If the guid is the canonical url, then it shouldn't matter if there are updates to the posts as anyone who already saw it and who uses a rss reader worth using won't get a new entry.
