I am wondering what the appropriate steps are to change you name when you get married. I am about to get married in the next 30 days and after getting a marriage license, I am at a lost for what my next step is. Does it depend on what state you live in, or is iut a nation wide kind of thing?
In my state (Massachusetts) there was a line on the marriage license application to change your name. If you put your new name on this line, it becomes official (as far as the state is concerned).
Then you, of course, need to apply for new credit cards, passport, drivers license, etc.
