Too short time allowed for editing

Hi Moderators

In my opinion, the time allowed for editing a post is too short. I don't know what other members think. Would it be possible to give a longer period?

Many thanks.

I think you should use the "Contact Us" form at the bottom of the page to let the moderators or site owners know of your concerns.

@TTH,
Probably true, TTH. Still, I did like the old policy of keeping the option open till a reply had been posted.

@tanguatlay,
Hi Roger and TTH

When I edit my post, I am often panicky because of the short time allocated for editing. I've to fight against time. Once done, I submit my post only to find a couple of errors because I am in a rush.

Oh dear! Could something be done. It is always a lousy feeling to see a piece of my work riddled with a couple of errors and I cannot do anything about correct them because "Time's up".

@tanguatlay,
We all know the feeling. I often wonder, while editing, what happens if someone replies before I've completed the edit.

I think it gives us plenty of time. Don't post it until you're ready to say it!

When I am composing a post that I want to be perfect once posted, I usually write it in Word or Notepad and do all my editing there. Once I'm satisfied with it, I then copy from there and paste it into the A2K message form. That way the editing timer doesn't have any effect on me.

Even then, I use the preview feature to confirm it is as I intended before finally clicking the Post/Reply button.

Other times, when I am just making a casual post, I compose it in the A2K form and post it without previewing first only to find I've not typed a code correctly and an image or url or quote doesn't display properly. In those instances, sometimes I notice it quickly enough to fix it before the time runs out. There have been a few times that I've not noticed the problem in time and wished the editing time was extended. I end up swearing that I'll always use the first method I described, but get lazy and repeat the same routine over again until the next time.

@tanguatlay,
Hi back Very Happy
Sometimes I do what Butrflynet posted. Other times I just post and then when I see the mistakes I made or I look back and think - I said what? I just laugh and think to myself....what an idiot Laughing
