ok i have my ps3 hooked up to my computer via wierless network and quite a few of my video files work perfectly, so the issue im having is not connection related, i cant play quite a few of my videos due to thier format and was wondering if any one knows where i can get a patch for the ps3 to play them or a decent converter
please post links if possible
is any one able to help, or does any one have the same problem as me??

Videos need codecs. If your video is in a format that can't be played by your PS3 you should convert them.
You can find tools to do so by searching for "file format to file format".
e.g. "mpeg to avi"
Here are the formats that are supported:

Additionally the videos might have DRM restrictions that restrict what devices it can be played on.
thank you for all your help, i fouind that linux will run on the ps3 menaning i can then run windows and media player, as long way round it is it still works and i can watch all movies on my tv
