Butrflynet is doing the transcribing of Obama's speech for the administration

I just called Butrflynet (my daughter) in California to ask her if she cried during Obama's speech. She said she did. I said I did, too. Then she told me that the Obama Administration contracted with the company she does work for and she will be preparing the speech transcription for the Administration. She also said the company will be the contractor for the Obama Administration and she will be doing a lot of the work. It is wonderful because she can continue the work when she moves to Albuquerque at the end of February. I will get to watch her.

I couldn't talk to her long because she was already working on the transcription. CONGRATULATIONS! Butrflynet. You earned it by your competence, but also for your support of Obama from the very beginning.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
It's not quite official yet, mom, and when I told you about it, I didn't know you'd be posting the information on a public message board. I guess this is your Jill Biden/Oprah moment. WinkLaughing

I've transcribed the entire ceremony in English and applied sychronized captioning. We're now in the process of having it translated into seven languages by other transcribers and I will be adding and synchronizing those with the lines of English captioning on the video. If all goes according to schedule, we should have it finished by tomorrow night so that it can be uploaded to the website.

This inaugural project is akin to the company's final interview before having the contract confirmed. If the company gets final approval, then yes there will be a lot of transcription contract work for me in the future.

Thanks for the early congratulations and words of support, everyone.

By the way, not only did I cry while watching it live, I've cried every time I've played it back while doing the editing. It is hard to resist being emotional about all the levels of historic moments in so many faces.

@Butrflynet,
Nothing wrong with tears of joy on this one!

Oceans of 'em have been shed for this event!

A nice dividend on the oceans of tears of sadness shed during the last eight years.

@Butrflynet,
Sorry, Butrflynet, but I was so proud of your contribution to Obama's success I didn't think about your privacy. My bad! Dolly and Madison made me do it.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Congrats Butrflynet. And if your company needs a Latvian translator - don't forget Merry Andrew just retired from the public sector and has plenty of words to spare.

Yee haw! Just got word that the White House Staff has accepted the video captioning and has already added it to their new White House channel on Youtube. They're supposed to be adding it to the WhiteHouse.gov site very soon.

Edit, got an update while typing. It is now on whitehouse.gov also.

Whoopie!

Now we just need to wait for the official decision for the contract work.

You may need to click the CC button on the video player to envoke the closed captioning.

@Sglass,
Is he fluent, Sglass? When he's recovered enough to be able to sit at the computer typing for several hours a day let me know and I'll pass his name along.

@Butrflynet,
gREAT NEWS!

Looks like I will have to turn my dining room into a computer office for Butrflynet when she moves to Albuquerque in March.

@Butrflynet,
Yee haw!

I'll withhold final kudos until the signatures are on the contract but you should feel proud of your achievements.

@Butrflynet,
He is quite fluent in Latvian - he is still on call to the State Department for translating jobs. Do you an A2k email address wherehe can make contact with you.
