I have made numerous lists, prior to going shopping. This, over many years. Recently, since I have not consulted them, I decided to swear off list making.

I failed to make a list of all the earthworms I uncovered this morning. I wanted to label them by length and time of discovery, but my forgetfulness has caused me to have a coffee can full of the squirming, writhing, oily creatures in a coffee can nestled at my feet, all devoid of mention -- devoid of a place on a coveted list.
I feel their pain.
